About me!

I’m Ruth

Born in the late ’90s, I discovered I had the itch to travel in my late teens.

I chose — or perhaps felt pressured — to study first. In 2018, I packed my bags and moved abroad to study for a year. My first flight took me to Australia, and although I didn’t know it then, that trip would leave a lasting mark on me.

But before I get into all of that...

A few things about me

📸 I love photography. I’m usually the person stopping to take a photo while everyone else keeps walking.

I’m very easily persuaded by good coffee.

🎒 I’m better at booking the flight than figuring out the plan afterwards.

🌏 Australia has somehow become a recurring character in my life.

🚐 I’ve recently discovered that living out of a campervan is both incredibly freeing and slightly chaotic.

📝 I like documenting things. Photos, memories, little moments, stories — I don't want to forget the details.

🗺️ I don't really travel to tick places off a list. I’d rather stay somewhere long enough to get a feel for it.

How I got here

In 2018, I moved abroad to study for a year, thinking it would simply be a chapter of my life.

What I didn’t realise then was that leaving home would become so much more than a year overseas. It was the beginning of discovering who I am, what I value, and what kind of life I actually want to live.

What started as studying abroad became a journey of independence, self-discovery and learning how to make a life for myself somewhere new.

Then, in 2025, I booked another one-way flight to Australia.

I haven’t been home since.

Now, in 2026, I’m still here, slowly making my way around Australia on my Working Holiday Visa — working along the way, exploring new places, meeting people and collecting stories as I go.

I don't have a five-year plan, and honestly, I'm not sure I want one.

For now, I'm enjoying figuring it out as I go.

Why this blog?

I've always loved documenting things. Taking photographs, writing things down, keeping little memories of places and people — I think that's probably why travel has always appealed to me so much.

This blog is a place to put all of that together.

The places I go, the things I learn, the people I meet, the beautiful moments, the not-so-beautiful ones and everything in between.

I want to share the reality of travelling and living abroad — not just the pretty photographs, but the messy, uncertain and ordinary parts too.

The people who inspired me

A big part of my love for this lifestyle has come from following people who chose to live a little differently — people who made travel part of their everyday lives rather than something they squeezed into a two-week holiday.

Some of my favourite nomads and creators who have inspired me along the way are:

Beth — She Is The Lost Girl

Aimee & Craig — We Kickin' It

Eamon & Bec — Eamon & Bec

Abby Joselyn

Their stories have all influenced how I think about travel, freedom and what an alternative version of life can look like.

I'm still figuring out what my own version looks like.

So, what's next?

I have absolutely no idea.

And I think that's okay.

For now, I'm going to keep travelling, keep working, keep taking photographs and keep seeing where the road takes me.

Maybe I'll figure out where I'm going along the way.
